A little late...

Hey, I'm the other contributer to this blog! I was thrilled when Emmy contacted me, but alas, due to a variety of factors (thunderstorms in eastern massachusetts left me sans internet, as did a family vacation) I haven't posted until now. Here's a photo:

My hair's quite a bit longer now... Anyway, my name is Marie-kristine, I'm 17 and about to be a senior in high school. I love fashion and I read waaay too many fashion magazines. My fashion icons are Louise Brooks and Jane Birkin with a little Jackie O thrown in. I'll be mainly posting about fashion, with a bit about my hair, my life and college applications thrown in depending on the month.

Who will be auf'd next?

One of my favorite shows is Project Runway. Yesterday, my first day back to school and I was counting down the hours until 8 P.M. I thought this would have to be the most creativ challenge yet. Making clothes from this Saturn car I thought it was absolutely cool.

Leanne, one of my fave designers won the challenge. But sadly Keith had to leave us. I don't realy mind because his designs were starting to get a little... you know what I mean. Michael Kors even called his drag queen outfit a dowdy chicken. That was the drag queen challenge.

In the end, Keith kept crying, but I kept thinking he needs to suck it up and build a thick skin. As in the words of Heidi Klum "In fashion, one day you're in and the next your out.

Goals!

Hellos everyone :)

School starts in about 5 days, for me, so I would like to post my seven [main] goals for my freshman year! (**no order in the goals)

1) do things for myself - not for others.
I think I've been a little too nice to my peers and friends throughout middle school, and I would really like to start going into my own "path." I want to stop doing things with and for my friends because I always feel obligated.
2)
study more and try harder for good grades
3)
try to stop caring what other people think
4) live in the "now"
I'm always thinking about the past (what I did and what I should have done) and thinking about the future (what should I do?). I want to live in the present! :D
5) eat more healthily/exercise more
6) be more outgoing and open to others
I'm [sometimes, or more times?] wait for others to make plans with me or talk to me, and I think it is time that I start to plans. I also want to widen my range of friends and be more social.
7) dress more confidently & creatively (despite what others say)

I started to dress "myself" in the beginning of 8th grade, but then I got lazy. So, this year I want to dress like that, but keep it going... forever!

Yay! Post YOUR goals if you would like to :)
I seriously cannot wait until school starts this year! But I think that once it starts and all the work gets in, then I'll be dreading it and wanting winter break. haha

A photo I took. :D I just felt like sharing it

Adios, Jennifer

I Feel like Ebert and Roeper, but not really

Tonisha here. It's Friday, It's Friday! How I love it so much. As the days end, the closer I am approaching the new school year, but I'm very hyped up about it.

But you probably don't want to hear me ramble on about my school and I am not going to. Instead, I would love to share with you a movie that I saw last night called The Ten. It's a comedy that is based on part of the Ten Commandments set in modern times. I absolutely loved it, the only initial reason I was going to watch was because Justin Theroux was in it and he's goregous, but I actually loved it a lot. The humor is somewhat crude and a little dark, but that makes it better.

I couldn't really find a promo poster for the film, so I found a pic of the very attractive male in it.

... I know, right?
Love and peace

So Much to Write, So Little Time!

Hellos! (:

Olympics! Yay! The Olympics excite me because of Michael Phelps. He is so darn hot haha. I mean he has a choice to wear either the body suit or the tiny little speedo, and (thankfully!) he chooses the speedo or the long shorts (sorry for my lack of swimming suit terminology). I think he does it to please the women watching him haha and for speed, of course.

Well besides watching Michael Phelps, I also enjoy watching gymnastics and volleyball. Gymnastics is exciting to watch and to see their ability to do flips, jumps, tricks, cartwheels, etc. etc. And I love to watch volleyball because I play it, and I love it.

And I would also like to share my maybe back to school outfit! I'm not sure what I think of it, but your opinion my help (:

I hope I did not ramble on too much. Well, I am not off to write my Humanities Summer Essay and watch The Secret Life of the American Teenager!

Adios Amigos!, Jennifer

i fly like paper, get high like planes

everything looks better in a polaroid. for example, my brother's old converse sneakers.

Tonight, I'm going to rest my chemistry

Tonisha here. I am here to leave you with some fuel for thought. One of my favorite bands is Interpol. They're from New York and became princes of the 'post-punk' revival back in 2002. They've released three albums so far, but my thing is, I just wish more people would listen to them nowadays. I know it might be a little late, but their latest album actually came out last July and let me tell you it's the best one they've done yet. I love every track and they are one of the few bands with substance that come around. Did I mention they're not bad to look at and have impeccable style. So, I say, spend your weekend browsing and buying their music.

Some of my fave tracks are:

Pioneer to the Falls and The Scale from Our Love to Admire
Narc from Antics
Obstacle 1, NYC, and PDA from Turn On the Bright Lights

let the sirens roll in tokyo!

hello readers!

yeah, what a cheesy title. I know haha, but anyways I'm talking about Tokyo Police Club (sirens - police... in tokyo = tokyo?)
I listened to the 30 second preview of their songs to see what all the "hype" was about for them, but that didn't help much, so I went to their myspace page. I sat there and listened to their song "Tessellate" for a while, and then "Your English is Good", and I said to myself "DAYUM. why didn't I like them before"?!
The thing I love about them is their sound. It's so pure and unique. In their song "Be Good" I love the way it sounds during their breaks. It's just... well, I don't know how to describe it. Amazing? That's one word, but it doesn't even complete the way I feel when I listen to them.
I really wonder why, when I listened to them 3 months ago, their sound didn't appeal to me. I guess my music taste has changed since then haha :D

I really recommend you listening to them, if you want to, that is.

Thanks for reading!
I'll be writing soon,
Jennifer (:

Who's That Girl?

Hey, what's up out there? My name is Tonisha or Toni or Toni the Tiger. It doesn't matter what you call me. I am so excited to be contributing. I love fashion, music, and all sorts of art. I think I'm pretty quirky and wierd, but I love that about me.

I love to read, and yes, I am the total nerd.

I am pretty quiet, but once you know me, I have to say, I think you're going to love me!
My computer is being not so friendly, so I'll post of pic of me later.
See ya!

Bonjour, Bonjour

(That isn't a picture of me, but while Googling my name, this picture came up.)
Bonjour, I'm Jaisha. Memoirs of A Geisha is one of my favorite books/movies of all time. A nickname of sorts that I've acquired over the past year and a half, is Jaisha the Geisha. Feeding my love of Japan, I even decorated my room with an oriental theme and bought a mini Geisha statue. However, this introduction is not solely about my name.
I am writer. Writing is what I want to do as a career. I don't recall much of my life before writing. Perhaps little existed before the day I received my first journal and began writing. We all breathe, of course, but writing is how I exhale.
I love music. All types of music. Classic Rock, jazz, neo-soul, grunge, '60s pop, classical, folk. All sorts.
I am known for wearing high heels to school (how daring I am!). What can I say? They aren't torture to me. Besides, I have high arches, flats bother me more often than not.
In fashion, I am a type of chameleon. I don't follow trends. I wear the things that I like, I don't care whether it's  "in" or not. I do have a soft spot for vintage clothing. *sigh* How I would have loved to have lived during the '20s, '30s, '40s, or '50s.
Living is the best part of my life. The best that I can do everyday is live and not give up on life because the future will soon come.
I feel that the name of this blog works perfectly. We are stars in the sky. Every one of us. And all I can say is: keep shining, dahling, and never stop.

Best Regards.
